At One Day Seyoum, we raise awareness about the human rights violations committed against Eritreans through campaigns, projects, protests and speaking engagements to galvanise pressure on the Eritrean regime and other institutions complicit in the abuse.

Our focus areas include unlawful imprisonments, violations of political and civil liberties, enforced labour, women’s rights and refugee rights. We closely work with Eritrean civil society and have played an instrumental role in the current ‘Yiakl’ (Enough) movement against the dictatorship. We frequently partner with international human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Human Rights Foundation and DefendDefenders on Eritrea and migration related advocacy.

We advocate at international forums such as the United Nations and the African Commission on Peoples’ and Human’s Rights and regularly speak at international conferences and to the media to shine light on the Eritrean human rights crisis.

We also run campaigns with specific focuses:

Free Ciham Ali Abdu

15 years old is the age at which Eritrean-American citizen Ciham Ali Abdu’s life was permanently put on hold, as she was imprisoned without trial by the Eritrean regime for attempting to flee the country after her family's lives had become endangered. 7 years later, she is still languishing in a prison in the worst conditions a young woman could find herself in. We run different projects and campaigns to raise awareness about Ciham and demand her release.

#EvacuateRefugeesFromLibya

An initiative to raise awareness about the situation for refugees in Libya and mobilise people to pressure European countries to evacuate refugees from there.
