One Day Seyoum And Amnesty International Delivers 440,000 Signatures For Ciham Ali To The U.S. Government

We have actively campaigned for the release of Ciham Ali since 2019. When we started, Ciham’s name was virtually unknown and no one in the U.S. Government had ever publicly spoken about her. 

Since then, a lot has changed.

We are eternally grateful for all individuals and organisations that have helped spread Ciham’s campaign worldwide these past years. Together, we have built such a beautiful and dedicated community committed to pressuring the US government to intervene. 

We ran many memorable campaigns across social media, including #happybirthddayciham and #purple4ciham. We organised several protests and events. We conducted consistent lobbying efforts in Washington DC. 

And throughout all of this, we coordinated a petition with Amnesty International to create even more pressure. We are immensely proud to announce that this petition now has received over 440,000 signatures and that it was delivered to the US State Department this week.

All of our combined efforts since 2019 have elevated Ciham’s case in Washington DC. Both publicly and privately, we have observed an increasing amount of interest and efforts there for her. But there is still more work to do. We need to continue placing pressure on the U.S. Government to do even more. We therefore urge you to continue getting involved with her campaign with the same level of enthusiasm, love and passion you have from the beginning. 

We cannot give up before Ciham is released.
